Moran’s debut novel, THE MAN IN THE BOX, was a finalist in the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers series in 1997, and won the Stephen Crane Award for Best First Fiction. At twenty-eight, after five years as a journalist, he earned a Pulitzer nomination in investigative reporting for a series of stories on Mafia activities in New York City. Thomas Moran was born and raised near Baltimore. In high school he lettered in varsity lacrosse and wrestling, and continued his education at the University of Maryland and The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism ![]()
